Implementation Plan

In each project, Market Street tells our clients that when the strategy process is complete, the real work begins. Timely and effective implementation is critical to the ultimate success of Arlington’s Economic Development Study Recommendations. Market Street will be a true partner in the initial implementation efforts, assisting the Steering Committee in selecting strategic options, prioritizing the implementation actions, developing a realistic timeframe for implementation, and reviewing funding priorities and potential funding sources.

Based on the Economic Development Study Recommendations, an Implementation Plan will be developed with the following components:

Program Assessments and Enhancements
Once the Economic Development Study Recommendations are finalized, a thorough review of existing economic development programs in Arlington will be conducted to determine what changes are necessary to implement the action steps outlined in the Study Recommendations.

Market Street, with the guidance of the City of Arlington and Steering Committee, will review current assets and gaps in capacity and help identify any necessary enhancements to facilitate effective implementation.

Funding Allocation
With the Study Recommendations finalized, Market Street will work with the Steering Committee to determine if any funding reallocations are needed for implementation. Anticipated funding needs will be estimated per objective to help with budgeting and prioritization.

Timetable
The Steering Committee and Market Street will jointly develop a one-year and five-year timetable for the Implementation Plan. These timetables will focus on short, medium, and long-term actions to best implement the Study Recommendation’s goals and objectives.

The timetable must be updated over time to address changing realities, and Market Street will recommend a process for revisiting the Economic Development Study Recommendation report’s goals on an ongoing basis.

Communication Strategy
Market Street will work with the Steering Committee and the City of Arlington to identify the means by which the final strategy recommendations will be rolled-out to the community, as well as make any necessary adjustments to the Chamber’s marketing efforts to successfully enhance recruitment, retention, and expansion efforts.

To assist with the roll-out phase of the process, Market Street will produce an Executive Summary of the Economic Development Study Recommendations to distribute to interested stakeholders and for use by community leaders in building consensus for implementation of the Study Recommendations.
