Transportation


Dallas - Fort Worth International Airport 
Arlington is located only 20 minutes from DFW International Airport, which is the world’s third busiest airport. DFW offers 1,900 flights daily with nonstop service to 135 domestic destinations and 38 international destinations.  The airport serves 60 million passengers a year and moves over 720,000 metric tons of cargo.  Ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction for Large Airports” in North America by J.D. Power and Associates, and named as 2006’s “Best Airport for Customer Service in the Americas” by an Airports Council International survey of passengers, DFW International Airport provides access to every major continental destination in less than four hours.

Arlington Municipal Airport
The Arlington Municipal Airport is a full-service general aviation "reliever" airport located south of Interstate 20 in Arlington. Arlington Municipal averages 380 flights per day and houses approximately 300 aircraft.  The airport encompasses a total of 500 acres, on which several aviation businesses have been developed. The Airport is comprised of 96 T–hangars, one maintenance hangar and 140 tie-down spaces. 


Highway Network
The Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex is a major Interstate highway hub with two Interstates, I-20 and I-30, passing directly through Arlington. Additionally, State Highway 360 provides Arlington businesses and residents with direct access to DFW International Airport.

Work is currently underway on the "Three Bridges" project that includes a new bridge at Center Street, a new bridge at Baird Farm Road, the replacing of the Collins Street Bridge and the reconstruction of the I-30 main lanes from Cooper Street to Ball Park Way.  The completion of this project will allow for greater access to central Arlington and the Entertainment District. 

Rail Transportation  
Arlington is served by the Union Pacific Railroad – the largest railroad in North America. Located along one of the Union Pacific’s most active east-west lines, Union Pacific serves the Great Southwest Industrial Park, General Motors and other local industries.


Progressive Inc. of Arlington, was awarded a long-term contract to manufacture components for the Gulfstream 550 business jet program.  


Nordstrom Inc. will open a 31,673-square-foot Nordstrom Rack in The Parks at Arlington mall in spring 2011.


Aéropostale Inc. leased 3,500 square feet of space at The Parks at Arlington mall for a children’s line called P.S. from Aéropostale.


New tenants at Lincoln Square Shopping Center include Wedding World and Metropolitan Classical Ballet.


New tenants in the Arlington Highlands I-20 shopping district include The Improv Comedy Club, Dueling Piano Bar, Fat Fish Blue and Pinkberry Frozen Yogurt Company.


The Salvation Army has bought a 100,000-square-foot warehouse at 2900 Avenue E in Arlington to serve as a Disaster Services Center.


UT Arlington to build College Park, an $80 million, mixed-use development /parking garage, street-level retail, office suites, campus housing and welcome center.


UT Arlington is building a $78 million Special Events Center for world-class concerts, sporting activities, conferences and community events.


Babe’s Chicken will open this fall in downtown's Center Street Station, a $30 million mixed-use project on North Center Street.


A Mellow Mushroom location is being planned for Center Street Station.
