Economic Development Statement

Located in the heart of the North Texas region with its six million residents is THE community of choice – Arlington, Texas. - a city of champions committed to innovative business practices and the business-friendly tradition of Texas.

In Arlington, Texas, we are in the middle of something big (the 4th largest metropolitan area in the United States) and just 8 miles from DFW International Airport. With access to all the amenities of the region, Arlington is the premier business location with its integrated transportation network, providing access to Texas, the nation and markets around the globe.  Arlington has experienced rapid growth since 1970 and now more than 360,000 people call Arlington home. We also welcome more than 6.5 million visitors annually.

The University of Texas at Arlington, Tarrant County College and other institutions of higher education offer advanced technology programs and are expanding their reputations for research as demonstrated by the recent launch of the Center for Innovation. Arlington is also home to a strong public school system that has been nationally recognized with two International Baccalaureate programs. More than half of our population is between the ages of 18 and 44 and of these, approximately 21.5% have college degrees.    Arlington is looking ahead – training technology workers of the future.

Champion Arlington is working aggressively to attract additional high-quality businesses.  Arlington’s business community is comprised of many major corporations and numerous business parks that offer a variety of flexible development options.  Our target industries are business and financial services, logistics, manufacturing, healthcare and tourism.  Economic incentives that are available include tax abatements, job training resources, triple freeport inventory tax exemption, chapter 380 grants, tax increment reinvestment zones, enterprise zone incentives, and expedited permitting.

If you are looking for a pro-business community in a prime location and lifestyle second-to-none, we invite you to consider Arlington.   A city with a strong commitment to innovation and success, the Champion Arlington team will be an advocate for you.  To learn more about our economic development strategy and tools, contact the Economic Development Office at 817-459-6550 or
